An Imperial gallon contains four Imperial quarts, eight Imperial pints, or 160 Imperial fluid ounces.

Imperial units are not interchangeable with similarly named US liquid units.

An Imperial gallon is approximately 20.095% larger than a US liquid gallon.

The Imperial pint is also larger than the US liquid pint, while the Imperial fluid ounce is slightly smaller than the US fluid ounce.

Always preserve the system label when copying, recording, or communicating a result.

Cup measurements are not universal.

The exact US customary cup used by this converter is 236.5882365 mL.

Kitchen guides often round a US cup to about 240 mL, while recipes using a metric cup may define it as exactly 250 mL.

Use the cup definition specified by the recipe instead of assuming every cup is the same size.

Results are shown with up to four decimal places, with unnecessary trailing zeros removed.

Volume describes occupied space. Mass describes the amount of matter.

Millilitres cannot be converted directly to grams unless the material's density is known.

Water is often approximated as one gram per millilitre for everyday kitchen use, but oils, flour, sugar, honey, powders, and other substances have different densities.

The converter uses US liquid-volume relationships for cups, pints, quarts, and gallons.

US dry pints and dry quarts are separate units and are not included.

Ingredient volume can also change with packing, settling, particle size, and measuring technique.

The unit factors are retained internally without display rounding.

Ordinary results use up to four decimal places. Scientific notation is used when a fixed decimal would be impractical.

Exact conversion factors do not remove uncertainty from the original measurement, container markings, recipe rounding, or measuring method.
