How to use the speaker cleaner

Prepare the phone first. Correct audio routing, speaker position, and moderate volume matter more than repeating the tone.

    Use this only when the phone is otherwise functioning and the concern is possible droplets near the speaker opening. After submersion, exposure to salt water or another liquid, heat, charging alerts, shutdowns, or other faults, follow the manufacturer’s instructions instead of relying on playback. For a minor fresh-water splash, remove the case, disconnect external audio, and hold the affected speaker downward over a dry, lint-free cloth.

    Set the phone to a moderate hardware volume, press Eject water, and let one 60-second guided cycle finish unless the sound becomes harsh, the speaker distorts badly, or the device feels unusually warm.

How a Water Eject Sound May Help

A phone speaker produces sound by moving a small diaphragm. Low-frequency pulses and sweeps create repeated diaphragm movement that may help shift droplets resting near the speaker opening or grille.

The guided cycle moves between roughly 150 and 250 Hz. That range is a practical browser tone pattern, not a universal device-specific calibration, and no single frequency is guaranteed to work best on every phone.

Results vary with speaker construction, grille shape, obstruction, liquid amount, phone orientation, audio processing, and hardware condition. A browser tone cannot determine where liquid is located or confirm that internal parts are dry.

Position the Phone Correctly

Keep the affected speaker facing downward so gravity can assist movement toward the opening. Place a dry, lint-free cloth below it without covering or pressing into the grille.

Make sure audio is playing through the phone itself rather than Bluetooth, wired headphones, a car system, or another connected device.

Use Moderate Volume and Stop When Necessary

The website cannot read or change the phone's hardware volume. Start at a moderate level and increase only if playback remains clean and comfortable.

Stop immediately if the speaker crackles severely, the phone becomes unusually warm, the sound is painful or uncomfortable, or the device shows another fault or liquid warning.

Do not treat louder playback or repeated cycles as proof that more water is being removed.

If it stays muffled

Stop and let the phone dry.

Stop repeated cycles and allow the phone to dry naturally in a ventilated place. Follow the manufacturer's liquid-exposure instructions and do not connect a cable while the device or connector may still be wet or shows a liquid warning.

Do not use external heat, compressed air, rice, cotton buds, paper, pins, or other objects in ports or speaker openings. Advice differs by device and liquid type, so use the support instructions for the exact phone model.

Persistent muffling, heat, charging warnings, microphone problems, display faults, unexpected shutdowns, or other symptoms can indicate liquid or damage beyond the speaker opening. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified repair provider.

What This Tool Cannot Fix

The sound cannot repair corrosion, a torn speaker, damaged seals, internal liquid exposure, charging faults, compacted debris, blocked microphones, or failed electronic components.

This release is designed for a phone's built-in speaker. It is not a cleaning or diagnostic tool for earbuds, headphones, watches, laptops, tablets, microphones, or external speakers.

The speaker test confirms only that the browser produced audible tones through the selected output. It does not measure loudness, frequency response, distortion, moisture, or hardware health.

Can the sound confirm that my phone is dry?

No. The sound may help move droplets near a speaker opening, but it cannot detect moisture, inspect internal components, or confirm that the phone is safe to charge or use normally.

Does the tool upload anything from my phone?

No. It generates tones with the browser's Web Audio API. It does not record, inspect, or upload phone audio, images, files, or device data.

What frequency does the speaker cleaner use?

The guided cycle combines pulses near 165 Hz, sweeps from about 150 to 250 Hz, and short low-frequency bursts. Advanced fixed tone is limited to 120 to 300 Hz.

Is 165 Hz the best water eject frequency?

There is no universal best frequency for every phone. Speaker size, enclosure, grille, audio processing, and the location of the droplet all affect the response. The guided mode therefore uses pulses and sweeps rather than relying on one value alone.

Should I set my phone to maximum volume?

No. Begin at a moderate hardware volume and increase only if the tone remains clean and comfortable. Stop if the speaker distorts severely, the phone becomes unusually warm, or playback is uncomfortable.

How many cleaning cycles should I run?

Should I put a wet phone in rice?

Why does the speaker still sound muffled?

Liquid may remain elsewhere, the opening may contain debris, audio may be routed incorrectly, or hardware may be damaged. Allow natural drying and seek qualified service if muffling, heat, warnings, or other faults persist.

Does the sound work on every phone?

No result is guaranteed. Speaker size, grille design, frequency response, audio routing, obstruction, and the location of the liquid all affect the outcome.

Does iPhone have a built-in water eject button?

Apple documents a water-ejection function for Apple Watch. Its iPhone support guidance instead focuses on placing the speaker side down, airflow, drying, and liquid-detection alerts; it does not describe a general built-in iPhone water-eject control.

Can I use it on earbuds, headphones, or a smartwatch?

This version is intended for a phone's built-in speaker. Earbuds, headphones, watches, laptops, and external speakers have different designs and should follow their manufacturer's instructions.

Why did playback stop when I changed tabs?

The tool stops when the page is hidden so audio does not continue unexpectedly in the background. Return to the page and start a new cycle manually if appropriate.

What does the speaker test check?

It plays three short tones so you can confirm that browser audio reaches the selected output. It does not diagnose water, measure speaker quality, or prove that the phone is dry.
