How to Use the White Screen Tool
Choose White for a pure white surface, select another preset color, or enter a complete six-digit HEX value for a custom background.
Select the large color surface to open it in fullscreen. Select the fullscreen surface again or press Escape to return to the controls.
Use Zoom Lighting when you need a softer warm-to-neutral light for a webcam, photograph, recording, or nearby workspace.
To create a reusable image, choose a resolution or enter custom dimensions and select Download PNG.
What Is a White Screen?
A white screen tool displays a large, uniform white browser surface without ordinary page content covering it.
It can be used as a temporary background, simple light source, cleaning reference, display-inspection surface, tracing light, or blank screen.
This tool also provides black, red, green, blue, yellow, orange, and pink presets, plus a custom HEX picker. It is therefore useful as a broader fullscreen color-screen tool rather than only a white page.
The browser generates the surface directly. No image file needs to be downloaded before entering fullscreen.
Fullscreen White and Solid-Color Screens
Fullscreen mode expands the selected color surface and removes most visible browser controls while the Fullscreen API remains active.
The fullscreen element uses the current preset, custom HEX value, or Zoom Lighting color. Changing a setting after leaving fullscreen updates the next fullscreen session.
Fullscreen support varies by browser and device. A browser can reject the request because of permissions, device restrictions, embedded-page policies, or the absence of a recent user interaction.
Pressing Escape is the standard way to leave fullscreen on desktop browsers. The color surface itself can also be selected to request an exit.
Preset Colors and Custom HEX Screens
The built-in presets are White #FFFFFF, Black #000000, Red #FF0000, Green #00FF00, Blue #0000FF, Yellow #FFFF00, Orange #FFA500, and Pink #FFC0CB.
Use the color picker or HEX field when a different flat color is required. The HEX field accepts six hexadecimal digits with or without an initial number sign.
A custom value such as #F5F3FF creates a pale violet-white surface, while #FFFDD0 creates a cream-colored surface.
The chosen HEX value defines the browser color and generated PNG pixels. Its physical appearance still depends on the display and color-management environment.
Using a White Screen to Clean a Monitor
A uniform white background makes dust, fingerprints, dried droplets, streaks, and smudges easier to see than a detailed desktop or photograph.
Use the screen to locate marks first. Follow the cleaning instructions supplied by the display or device manufacturer before touching the panel.
A clean, soft microfiber or lint-free cloth is generally safer than paper towels or abrasive material. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the screen.
Use very light pressure. Pressing firmly can damage coatings, flexible panel layers, touch sensors, or the liquid-crystal structure beneath the surface.
A white screen reveals dirt; it does not make an unsuitable cleaning chemical safe.
Dead Pixel and Stuck Pixel Checks
A suspected dead pixel may remain dark because it is not producing visible light. A stuck pixel may remain fixed at one color or fail to change normally.
Start with white and inspect the panel from a normal viewing distance. Then repeat the check with black, red, green, and blue.
White can reveal consistently dark points. Black can make bright or colored points more obvious. Red, green, and blue help show whether an individual color channel is behaving differently.
Dust, reflections, screen coatings, image retention, scaling artefacts, and subpixel structure can resemble pixel defects. Clean the surface and repeat the test before drawing a conclusion.
This is a visual inspection tool, not a diagnostic instrument. Refer to the display manufacturer's pixel-defect and warranty policy when a persistent defect is found.
How to Run a Basic Display Color Test
Use White to check dark points, visible dirt, broad tint differences, and brightness variation.
Use Black in a dim room to look for bright pixels, backlight glow, edge bleed, or light leaking through dark areas.
Use Red, Green, and Blue to inspect the primary color channels and locate pixels that remain dark or show the wrong color.
Use yellow, orange, pink, or a custom value when a defect is easier to see against a mixed-channel color.
View the panel from its normal position. Many displays change brightness, contrast, or color when observed from an angle.
Display Uniformity, Tint, and Backlight Evaluation
A white screen can make broad differences between the center, edges, and corners easier to notice.
Look for dim edges, warm or cool patches, vertical bands, horizontal bands, cloudy areas, uneven gradients, or regions that appear slightly darker than the rest.
LCD panels can show backlight variation, glow, viewing-angle shifts, or pressure-related marks. OLED panels can show different brightness behaviour because each pixel emits its own light.
Room lighting, reflections, automatic brightness, HDR, power-saving modes, viewing angle, and local-dimming behaviour can all change what you see.
Visual uniformity inspection is useful for comparison, but accurate luminance and chromaticity measurements require appropriate test patterns and calibrated instruments.
White and Black Screen Contrast Checks
Alternating between white and black can make large differences in brightness and black level easier to notice.
White activates a bright full-field image, while black makes glow, bleed, elevated dark levels, and bright defects more visible.
This does not calculate a contrast ratio. Human vision adapts rapidly, and room light has a strong effect on perceived black and white levels.
A colorimeter or spectrophotometer is required when numerical luminance, black level, gamma, or contrast measurements matter.
Zoom Lighting for Video Calls and Recording
A bright display positioned near a webcam can act as a broad, close-range fill light. It may soften facial shadows and add light when the room is dim.
Open Zoom Lighting, adjust the warmth and intensity, then position the display in front of you or slightly to one side.
Move the screen far enough away to avoid squinting, glare, harsh reflections in glasses, or an unnaturally bright face.
The screen is useful as a convenient supplemental light. It is not a color-accurate replacement for a dedicated video light, diffuser, softbox, or calibrated photography source.
What the Warmth and Intensity Controls Do
The warmth control moves the generated color between a warmer off-white and neutral white.
It does not extend into a cool blue-white range and does not set a physical color temperature measured in kelvin.
The intensity control darkens or brightens the rendered RGB values from 10% through 100%. It does not change the operating system or monitor hardware-brightness setting.
For maximum visible output, use a bright generated color and separately adjust the device brightness to a comfortable level.
The active HEX value appears beside the PNG controls and is also used for the downloaded image.
White Screen for Drawing, Tracing, and Flipbooks
A white display can provide light beneath thin paper for tracing, comparing drawings, aligning animation frames, or assembling a simple flipbook.
Place only clean, lightweight paper over the screen and use minimal pressure. Do not press a pen, pencil, stylus, clip, or sharp object into the display surface.
Do not tape paper directly to a coated screen unless the device manufacturer confirms that the adhesive is safe.
A purpose-built lightbox is safer for frequent or pressure-heavy work. This browser tool is best treated as an occasional light source rather than a drawing surface.
White Screen for Focus and Blank Backgrounds
A plain fullscreen surface can hide an unused desktop, browser tab, presentation slide, or secondary monitor when visual detail would be distracting.
White provides a bright neutral surface, while black is more suitable when the display should emit less light.
A custom color can match a classroom activity, stage cue, photography background, presentation theme, or workspace preference.
The tool does not include a timer, task list, focus history, screen lock, or distraction blocker. It only supplies the selected visual surface.
Photography, Product Images, and Creative Work
A solid screen can be used as a small background, reflected light source, silhouette surface, translucent-object backlight, or quick visual reference.
White or Zoom Lighting may add fill light to a small nearby subject. Custom colors can create simple colored reflections or background effects.
Results depend on the display's brightness, spectrum, refresh behaviour, color profile, viewing angle, and camera settings.
Do not use the screen as a calibrated white-balance card, exposure standard, or color reference when accuracy is important.
Downloading White and Solid-Color PNG Images
The PNG generator creates a flat image using the currently active preset, custom HEX value, or Zoom Lighting color.
Preset sizes include 854 × 480, 1280 × 720, 1920 × 1080, 2560 × 1440, 3840 × 2160, and 7680 × 4320.
Custom dimensions can be entered as whole pixels up to 7680 pixels wide, 4320 pixels high, and 33,177,600 total pixels.
The PNG is created locally with HTML Canvas and downloaded through the browser. No source image or generated file is sent to an image-processing server.
Choosing a PNG Resolution
480p is suitable for small previews, lightweight assets, and older standard-definition layouts.
720p and 1080p cover common HD and Full HD presentation, video, wallpaper, and editing workflows.
1440p is useful for QHD monitors and projects that need more detail than 1080p.
4K, at 3840 × 2160, is appropriate for Ultra HD video backgrounds and modern high-resolution displays.
8K, at 7680 × 4320, creates a much larger file and Canvas surface. Use it only when the destination actually requires that resolution.
Choose custom dimensions when matching a specific screen, design canvas, video sequence, social image, or editing project.
What an Exact HEX Color Does and Does Not Mean
The browser uses the selected six-digit HEX value when painting the surface and Canvas image.
That provides a predictable digital RGB value, but it does not guarantee identical physical color on every display.
Monitor calibration, color profiles, wide-gamut modes, HDR processing, automatic brightness, ambient-light adjustment, panel ageing, and browser rendering can change the visible result.
Use calibrated equipment and color-managed software when a production workflow requires measured or repeatable color.
OLED and Static-Screen Precautions
This tool does not include automatic OLED protection, pixel shifting, brightness variation, or an anti-burn-in animation.
A bright static image should therefore remain open only as long as necessary, especially on an OLED phone, monitor, tablet, or television.
Use moderate device brightness for longer lighting or focus sessions, vary the displayed content periodically, and follow the display manufacturer's image-retention guidance.
A solid screen may help reveal temporary image retention or uneven ageing, but it cannot determine whether the condition is permanent or repair it.
Screen Wake Lock Behaviour
When the color surface enters fullscreen, the tool attempts to request a screen wake lock so a supported device is less likely to dim or lock during use.
The request is conditional. The browser or operating system may reject it because of permissions, power-saving rules, battery state, tab visibility, or missing API support.
The wake lock is released when fullscreen ends or when the page is no longer visible. A browser may also release it independently.
Wake lock is a convenience rather than a guarantee. Adjust the device's ordinary sleep settings when uninterrupted operation is essential.
Private Browser-Local Processing
Color calculations, dimension validation, fullscreen state, and PNG creation run in the current browser.
The PNG is drawn onto a local Canvas and converted into a downloadable Blob.
The tool does not require an account or upload a source image because the output consists only of a generated flat color.
Ordinary browser, hosting, analytics, download-history, and device policies remain separate from the local PNG-generation process.
What This White Screen Tool Cannot Do
It cannot repair dead pixels, stuck pixels, image retention, burn-in, backlight problems, panel damage, cable faults, or graphics-card issues.
It cannot measure luminance, contrast ratio, gamma, color temperature, white point, color gamut, response time, refresh rate, input latency, or flicker.
It does not calibrate a monitor, create an ICC profile, verify HDR performance, or certify display uniformity.
It is not a medical light-therapy device, eye test, treatment tool, or substitute for professional display-testing equipment.
Practical White Screen Tips
Use comfortable device brightness and reduce it immediately if the screen causes glare, squinting, headache, or discomfort.
Inspect the screen in more than one room-lighting condition because reflections can hide or imitate defects.
Clean the surface before recording a suspected pixel issue.
Use several color presets instead of relying on white alone.
Keep important downloaded PNG files in a known folder because the tool does not maintain a download library.
Avoid leaving a maximum-brightness static screen open after the task is complete.

Light passing through the paper can make the underlying drawing easier to trace.
