Resize from the form's actual requirements, not a preset
Online forms do not all use the same image specification. One may ask for an exact width and height, another may allow a range of dimensions, and another may care mainly about a maximum or minimum file size. Instead of choosing a generic exam or passport preset, copy the current instructions from the destination and use those values.
You can paste requirement text, let local OCR read an English-language screenshot, or enter the rules manually. Parsed text is shown back to you for confirmation so a valid-looking OCR mistake is not silently treated as an approved requirement.
Check image size, dimensions and format before changing anything
An uploaded image can be inspected even before you confirm a set of rules. The source summary reports its detected format, pixel dimensions, file size, reduced aspect ratio, megapixel count, orientation, transparency and DPI metadata when that metadata is present.
Once requirements are confirmed, the same source facts become a diagnosis: a rule can already pass, need a change, require your review, or be blocked when the requested combination cannot be satisfied safely.
Match pixel dimensions and file size together
Pixel dimensions and file size describe different properties. A 600 × 800 image can still exceed a 200 KB limit, while a very small file can have the wrong width or height. Matching one value does not prove that the other rule is satisfied.
Oliv ez plans the dimensions and byte limit together. Exact dimensions, minimum and maximum width or height, and inclusive minimum or maximum file-size rules are checked separately against the final file.
Use the KB range the form actually gives you
If a portal says 'maximum 50 KB', the useful goal is a file at or below that ceiling—not an arbitrary file that is exactly 50 KB. If it says '20–300 KB', both the minimum and maximum matter. Olivez keeps these as an inclusive byte range and validates the downloadable result against it.
The parser distinguishes decimal KB and MB from binary KiB and MiB instead of treating the units as interchangeable. When a minimum file-size rule is met with non-visual container padding, the result says so because extra bytes do not create extra image detail.
Keep an allowed format when possible
A portal may require one format, allow several formats, or say nothing about format. If the source format is already allowed, Olivez preserves it instead of converting without a reason. If exactly one different format is required, conversion can be planned.
When several formats are accepted but the source is not one of them, you choose the output format. That avoids hiding the trade-off between JPEG compression and transparency versus a potentially larger PNG. Converting transparent pixels to JPEG also requires a solid background decision.
Crop to the required ratio without stretching the image
Changing width and height independently can distort a face, signature, logo or product image. Olivez keeps proportional geometry and asks you to choose the framing when an exact aspect ratio or exact dimensions require a crop.
The crop is not treated as a background operation. You position the image, adjust zoom and confirm the part to keep before the planner can continue.
Upscaling can meet pixels, but it cannot create detail
A minimum-dimension rule can be larger than the source image. Olivez can enlarge the image only after you acknowledge that resizing cannot recover detail that was never present in the original.
The resulting pixel dimensions can pass a measurable rule while visual sharpness still needs human judgment. For an important application, begin with the clearest original you have instead of repeatedly enlarging or recompressing an already processed copy.
DPI is metadata, not a quality upgrade
Some scanned-photo or print-derived instructions specify DPI or PPI in addition to pixel dimensions. Olivez reads supported DPI metadata from the source, can write a confirmed exact DPI value, and checks the metadata again in the finished file.
Changing DPI metadata does not create pixels, restore focus or improve a low-resolution photograph. When a destination only specifies digital pixel dimensions and file size, do not invent a DPI requirement that the destination never asked for.
Prepare photos, signatures and other form images
The same workflow can be used for an application photograph, scanned signature, logo, product image or another static JPG, PNG or WebP when the destination gives measurable upload rules. You do not need a dedicated preset for each exam, employer, university or website.
This is especially useful when the instructions combine several conditions—for example JPG only, a range of acceptable dimensions and a 20–300 KB file-size range. Enter the current rules from the actual portal rather than relying on a remembered requirement from an older application cycle.
Know what Olivez verifies and what still needs your review
Format, actual encoded bytes, width, height, exact aspect ratio and supported DPI metadata are machine-checkable. The finished file is reopened and these measurable properties are checked again before it is offered as a successful result.
Visual or policy rules are different. A plain background, face position, glare, blur, signature clarity, photo recency, color-space requirement or another unsupported instruction is kept visible for manual review rather than being labelled as verified. A technically valid file can still be rejected by hidden server rules or human review.
Already valid images are not changed just for the sake of processing
If the source already satisfies every confirmed measurable rule, the workflow can return the original file unchanged instead of re-encoding it. That avoids introducing unnecessary compression loss or metadata changes.
When changes are needed, the plan is shown before processing so you can see whether the tool intends to crop, resize, convert format, write DPI metadata or adjust the file-size range.
Private browser processing with final-file validation
Requirement parsing, English screenshot OCR, image inspection, crop decisions, processing and validation run in your browser. The selected source image and requirement screenshot are not sent to an Olivez image-processing service.
The result is not trusted merely because an encoder finished. Olivez examines the actual encoded bytes, detects the output format and dimensions again, checks container completeness, file size, aspect ratio and requested DPI metadata, and blocks the download when a confirmed measurable requirement fails.

What is an image resizer for online forms?

Can I resize a photo or signature for an online form?
Yes. Static JPG/JPEG, PNG and WebP photos, scanned signatures and similar form images are supported. Use the current dimensions, file-size range and format stated by your form rather than relying on a generic preset.
Can I resize an image by both KB and pixels at the same time?
Yes. Width, height and file-size rules are handled separately, so a result must satisfy the confirmed pixel requirements and the confirmed byte range. A correct width and height do not automatically mean the file is small enough.
Can I check an image's size and dimensions without changing it?
Yes. After selecting a supported image, the page can show its format, pixel dimensions, file size, aspect ratio, megapixels, orientation, transparency and DPI metadata when available. Requirements are only needed when you want to compare the image with a destination rule set.
What is the difference between image dimensions and file size?
Dimensions are the width and height in pixels, such as 600 × 800 px. File size is the number of encoded bytes stored in the file, usually shown as KB or MB. A form can enforce either property or both.
Can I set both a minimum and maximum file size?
Yes. If the form says something like 20–300 KB, enter both limits. Olivez treats them as an inclusive range and checks the actual downloadable bytes against that range.
Does 50 KB mean the image must be exactly 50 KB?
Not when the instruction says 'maximum 50 KB' or 'under 50 KB'. Those are ceiling rules, so any valid result at or below the stated maximum satisfies the file-size condition. Use the wording from the destination instead of aiming for an arbitrary exact number.
What is the difference between KB and KiB?
In this tool, KB uses 1,000 bytes and KiB uses 1,024 bytes. MB uses 1,000,000 bytes and MiB uses 1,048,576 bytes. Keeping the units separate matters near a strict upload boundary.
What happens if the form accepts JPG or PNG?
If your source is already JPG or PNG, its allowed format is preserved when possible. If the source is WebP and the destination accepts both JPG and PNG, Olivez asks you which output to use instead of silently choosing between compression and transparency trade-offs.
What happens if the form does not mention a file format?
No format restriction is assumed. Olivez preserves the supported source format when it can satisfy the other confirmed rules.
Will Olivez stretch my image to force exact dimensions?
No. Proportional geometry is preserved. If the required framing has a different aspect ratio, you approve a crop. If the stated dimension rules cannot be satisfied without distortion, the conflict is reported instead of stretching the image.
What if my image is smaller than the minimum pixel dimensions?
The tool can plan an upscale, but you must acknowledge it first. Increasing pixel dimensions does not restore missing detail or guarantee that a visually low-resolution image will be accepted.
Does changing DPI improve photo quality?
No. DPI or PPI metadata describes physical density when a workflow uses it; changing that metadata does not create pixels or image detail. Pixel dimensions and DPI are treated as separate rules.
Can Olivez read upload requirements from a screenshot?
Yes. Static JPG, PNG or WebP requirement screenshots can be read with local English OCR within the stated screenshot limits. The extracted rules are shown for confirmation before they are used, because OCR can misread text.
Does my photo, signature or screenshot leave my device?
No. Requirement text, English screenshot OCR, source-image inspection, image processing and final validation run in the current browser. The files are not sent to an Olivez image-processing API.
Which source image formats are supported?
This workflow currently supports one static JPG/JPEG, PNG or WebP source image. Animated WebP and APNG are rejected. HEIC, HEIF, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, BMP, SVG and PDF are outside this tool's current source-image scope.
Why can a PNG fail a strict maximum file-size rule?
PNG output stays lossless in this workflow. Some pixel data cannot be represented as a PNG below a very small byte ceiling without changing the requirement or using a different allowed format, so the tool can report the requested combination as unreachable.
Why did the result say non-visual padding was added?
Some portals impose a minimum file-size rule. When the encoded image is otherwise valid but below that minimum, the tool can use standards-valid non-visual padding to reach the byte floor. Those extra bytes do not increase image detail or improve visual quality.
What if my image already meets every requirement?
The original file can be returned unchanged. Olivez does not need to re-encode a valid image simply to produce a new download.
Can the tool verify a white background, face position or image sharpness?
No. Visual requirements such as background appearance, face position, glare, blur, signature clarity, recency and similar content rules remain manual review items unless they are explicitly supported as measurable checks.
Will a file that passes Olivez always be accepted by the website?
No. Olivez can verify the confirmed measurable properties it supports, but a destination may also use hidden server checks, account rules, filename rules, visual requirements or human review. Always compare the result with the current official instructions before submitting it.
