AI Conversation Archive Migrator

Import common ChatGPT, Claude, generic JSON, or Markdown exports locally, filter conversations, and create a documented neutral archive.

What This Tool Does

AI Conversation Archive Migrator converts supported provider exports into a neutral, documented structure plus one readable Markdown file per conversation. Adapter-specific parsing is kept at the boundary so provider changes do not redefine the archive schema.

How to Use

  1. Choose a provider JSON export or Markdown conversation file.
  2. Confirm the detected source, conversation counts, and a sample of titles; filter the set if needed.
  3. Download the neutral archive and compare important conversations with the original before relying on it as a backup.

How the Analysis Works

ChatGPT mapping nodes and Claude chat-message arrays are projected into a small role, content, and timestamp schema. Generic arrays use conservative field aliases. Empty messages are discarded, original order is preserved where timestamps are unavailable, and the source format is recorded.

Limits and Responsible Use

Provider export schemas are not stable contracts. Rich attachments, citations, branches, tool calls, reactions, deleted messages, projects, artifacts, and account settings may not be represented. This is a content migration aid, not a complete account backup.

Examples

Create a readable ChatGPT archive

conversations.json from a provider data export

Result: A ZIP containing neutral archive.json and one Markdown file per readable conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it log in to an AI provider?

No. You choose an export file already on your device.

Can I delete my original export afterward?

Keep it. The neutral archive intentionally omits unsupported provider-specific data and should be verified before any source is removed.
